The Ss. Peter & Paul community was greatly blessed by the visit of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph, Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of all North America, the weekend of December 12 -14, 2014 -- an historic and momentous occasion in the life of our beloved church.
In commemoration of Patriarch John X's visit to the United States and the enthronement of Metropolitan Joseph as Archbishop of New York and Metropolitan of North America, the parish held a series of celebratory events. (A full schedule of the weekend can be found here.)
On Friday night, a concert of Orthodox liturgical Christmas music was held, which featured selections from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Vespers and Byzantine Nativity selections sung by Archmandrite Elias Bitar, George Theodoritis, and Raseem El Massih.
On Saturday night, Patriarch John X and Metropolitan Joseph presided over Great Vespers, and then attended a banquet held in their honor.
On Sunday morning, Patriarch John X and Metropolitan Joseph presided over a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy and were joined by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America (pictured above with Patriarch John X and Metropolitan Joseph). (See the OCA's account of the joyous celebration here.) His Eminence Metropolitan Sabba and His Eminence Metropolitan Vasileios also concelebrated at the Liturgy.

This was a joyous occasion for the church and Father George, Father Isaac, and the Church Council thanks everyone who helped make it a success! God bless you!
