Fr. Luke Rabee Toumi joined the community at Ss. Peter & Paul in July 2018 shortly after his ordination to the priesthood. Initially, he assisted Rev. Fr. Isaac Crow in ministering to the community, and then assumed the pastorate in March 2020 after the repose of Fr. Crow of blessed memory.
Fr. Luke was born in Homs, Syria, the oldest son of a cradle Orthodox Christian family with two siblings. He is a physician by training from Homs and Damascus Universities (class of 2003). In 2004, Fr. Luke enrolled at the St. John of Damascus Institute of Theology, the University of Balamand, to earn his bachelor’s in theology. After graduating with high distinction in 2008, he moved to Brookline, MA, where he pursued a Master of Theology at the Holy Cross Greek School of Theology, with a concentration in bioethics. In 2018, he earned his Ph.D. in Healthcare Ethics from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. His dissertation was published by Pickwick Publications in 2020. It is titled "Orthodox Christian Bioethics: The Role of Hospitality (philoxenia), Dignity, and Vulnerability in Global Bioethics." He has been married to his wife Rezanne Khalil, MD, since 2009. They are blessed to learn from Julia, Lydia, and Emilia how to be good parents.
